cropping help!
Hello, my loves! I was hoping you might be able to help me. I just got a new laptop and am working with a later version of PSP than am I used to. Here is how I normally crop:

1. Open the picture I want.
2. Crop to about 200 X 200.
3. Resize to 100 X 100.
3. Add the effects.

My problem is that the crop tool is different now. It now has 4 spaces and won't let me do that. Anyone familiar with that? Googling tutorials didn't help.

♥!

Hmm, usually I resize the picture by percentage so that it keeps everything even, until it's an okay size for the 100x100! I only have PSP8 so I don't know how much help that would be but :]

I don't really understand percentages and all that when it comes to cropping. It is why I really liked the pixel height and width. It was easy to do exactly what I wanted. :( How do you choose the percentage?

Usually I take the original image and I scale it in the preview to see what it would look like at the different sizes. My mouse has the rolly....thing, and it's easy to go from 100% to 80% that way to get a feel for it.

After I scale it down I just paste it into the 100x100 and move the image around to where I want it. There are probably better ways but that's how I've always done it haha

Yeah, when I used photoshop back in the day that was similar to how I had to do it. I liked PSP because it didn't take all that guess work. Why oh why must they "improve" things which only makes them worse? Hello, new Word?

Thanks though!

I... have no idea what that means, exactly, the way you were doing it before? And I use an OLD version of PSP (7). But the way I do it is that I use the crop tool to draw a rectangle and then adjust it so that it's square (the status bar at the bottom shows me the proportions of the crop area) and then resize that to 100x100.
